Programs

Families of wounded soldiers need our help in rebuilding their lives. Some of these brave families need immediate financial assistance to pay for bills or other unpredictable financial constraints. In many cases, a wife must leave her job back at home for an indefinite amount of time, a supplemental income that a military family counts on. In some cases the children of the wounded are placed with extended family members and must be left behind imposing a large financial constraint for both the immediate and extended family. Because of these, and numerous other financial burdens, Family Ties Foundation offers Emergency Financial Aid to help offset these costs.

Because we are committed to the family as a whole, Family Ties Foundation has also developed the WOWW program. Through WOWW, “Women of the Wounded Warriors”, mothers, and wives alike, can join our forum and network with other women in similar situations. At a time when the woman by a wounded soldiers side is called upon to care for her soldier she quickly discovers how emotionally and physically draining these days can be. For this reason we pay extra special attention to ensuring that these women are given a little R&R for themselves, so they may stay strong and focused for the entire family. Aside from the forum, WOWW gives these women a day off to enjoy for themselves.

‘Little Troopers’ is our commitment to the children of wounded soldiers. While military children are known to be extremely adaptable, it is important to remember that they are children. These children spend day in and day out, away from their friends, their home, their school worrying about their parents and when things will get back to normal. Through the ‘Little Troopers’ program, children of wounded soldiers will be partnered up with civilian children from schools all over the country in a pen pal program providing them with traditional contact of letter writing that lets them know that they too have not been forgotten.

We understand that injury continues to impact lives after discharge from the hospital. Family Ties Foundation has implemented The “Welcome Home Program”, which is designed to assist soldiers and their families with home renovations after they return home from the hospital. When families return home they realize the limitations that accompany specific injuries. And they soon learn that the entire family must adjust accordingly to the injury. This program will ease the entire family into the next transition of recovery.
